That's quite a drop...

In Lushoto at the moment, in the West Usumbara Mountains. Apparently the Germans called them "The Switzerland of Africa" when they were here, but I'm not sure even that does the scenery here justice. Yesterday I was stood on Irente Viewpoint, a rock at the top of a near-vertical drop to the completely flat Masai Steppe valley about a kilometre below. I'd forgotten I suffer from mild vertigo. As our guide John kept reminding us, however, this was nothing compared to the view from Mtae, which I will get to enjoy on Wednesday and Thursday.

Will continue this later...
