driving in the rain

[Email - To: All]

Loads of news, but only ten minutes, as I'm in town getting tested for hideous illnesses - actually feel quite a lot better now I'm here, but that could be the heating - it's very cold and wet in Iringa region at the moment - the weather is making me think of home and very homesick!!

Had fun coming here - 6am bus from the village,Ihalimba, to Mafinga, and then bus to here (and - almost - all on my own, too). As soon as I got off the bus in Mafinga (no, wait, BEFORE I even got off the bus in Mafinga) - several people from different daladalas decided to have a big scrap to win my custom, completely ignoring me telling them that I didn't want to go on the daladala - I wanted to go on the proper bus, because it's quicker, and they don't spend hours on end driving in circles pretending they're about to leave (they won't usually leave the town until they're full, and most of these daladalas were empty). They all made ridiculous claims about how quickly they'd get here too - yes, 82km in 45minutes in the knackered old toyota peoplecarrier that has to keep stopping to drop people off and pick people up - I'll buy that!

One of the teachers from the school had come into Mafinga for the day, so she helped me pick out the right bus to come on.

Think I'd better send this now - 2 min left!!

Phil :P
