Yay!!

I just received the PGCE prospectus from the University of Exeter, and realised just how desperate they all are for maths teachers. Normally, student teachers get a £6000 training bursary, and then secondary teachers in shortage subjects get a £4000 golden hello in their first year of teaching; but as a secondary maths teacher, I'll get a £7000 training bursary and a £5000 golden hello. Oh yes. The trial period for paying off teachers' student loans is ending this year, though, so I don't know whether that's being continued.

The fact that they've actually replied to me with some useful information puts them automatically at the top of the list, too. I'm not sure now whether I'll even bother applying to Bristol, because their responses to any queries so far has been feeble at best. I don't think I'll have too much trouble getting into Exeter though - they couldn't fill the maths course this year and they're supposed to be one of the best teacher training colleges.
