A380 takes off for maiden flight - BBC News

The world's largest passenger plane, the Airbus A380, has taken off on its long-awaited maiden flight.

Thousands of aeroplane enthusiasts, many of them clapping and cheering, witnessed the twin-deck "superjumbo" taking to the air for the first time.

I was slightly worried about this, watching on the news this morning. I just felt it would crash in a huge ball of flame. That's just the voyeur in me though.

It was interesting to see them talk on the news as if they might not cram as many seats in as physically possible, and use it as a luxury vessel, more like a cross-channel ferry where people can walk around and go to the shop and bar.

Yeah, right.
