Gameshow Night!

Well, that was lots of fun.

It only raised £58.31, but the Family Fortunes and Play Your Tankards right bits went down particularly well. And every one was happy as the prizes were being spread very thickly. If I'd thought about it I would have held some of the prizes back, but as the deadline for the £2000 for the Sahara Trek is next Friday, I was thinking this was my last chance to raise the money.

I could, of course, just pay the outstanding amount now and raise the money afterwards, and that's what I think I'll do. Got lots more ideas for gameshow rip-offs now - Wipeout, Blankety Blank, Bowing for Bold, Blind Fake, Wheel of Quinton Fortune, etc etc. Some of those are just names of course, and I haven't yet thought of a game to go with them.

Details will no doubt appear on Sahara Phil, which will now have a bit of a facelift, methinks.

The one thing that was disappointing last night was the fact that I lugged my computer all the way up the hill for no reason. I managed to get a microphone for the quiz from the Amory Building at the university, but the only thing I could play it through was my computer. So I carried it, along with plug-in speakers, to the pub yesterday afternoon. I had checked and double-checked that the microphone volume was not on the 'mute' setting, but when I came to set it up yesterday evening, you guessed it, the microphone was on the 'mute' setting. Bugger. I don't know how that happened, but of course I couldn't change it 'cos I only had the main computer bit, and no monitor or keyboard or mouse (well, I wasn't going to carry all that up as well, was I?).

Oh well. Good fun all the same, even if I am now slightly gruff.
