Tanzanian villagers are unhappy about the loss of a lucrative hunting contract, which they had been given as a way of solving the perennial conflict between animals and farmers in rural Africa. - from the BBC
More happy stories from Tanzania - it seems that a very effective-sounding community-based hunting deal in Selous Game Reserve has been contracted out to a German company. Woo-hoo. How much will each individual Governmental minister make from that then? Whoops, did I type that out loud?
The old deal allowed people to benefit their community. The new deal will stop further improvements from taking place, and might even turn the locals themselves into poachers. There's progress for you.
